Traverse City Fishing Report – Salmon Season remains STRONG!

Salmon season has been one for the books the last few weeks it really hit its stride on Lake Michigan here in Traverse City, and this past week has been one of the best of the season yet. Our customers aboard the Storm Hawk have enjoyed incredible action, with chrome-bright king salmon providing exciting fights and plenty of memorable moments on the water. Fishing has been productive throughout West Grand Traverse Bay, with salmon being caught anywhere from 90 to 300 feet of water. As fish continue to scatter throughout the day, staying mobile has been the key to finding active schools. One area that has continued to produce consistently is The Hole, which has remained a reliable destination throughout the week. Most of our success has come by targeting fish 60–90 feet down. Silver Horde plugs in a variety of colors have been the top producers, keeping rods moving throughout our morning charters. The outlook for September is excellent. Salmon fishing should remain strong throughout the month, with quality opportunities likely continuing into mid-October if conditions remain favorable. These fish are fresh from Lake Michigan, full of energy, and providing an unforgettable experience for our guests.
