Salmon fishing has remained solid throughout the week as fish continue locking into their traditional fall staging patterns. We’re seeing more consistent opportunities each day, and we’re anticipating an excellent finish to September as additional salmon continue arriving in the bay.

With mostly stable weather in the forecast, we’re optimistic that the next couple of weeks will provide some of the best salmon fishing of the season.

For anglers interested in this week’s patterns, we’ve been finding our best salmon action in the bottom end of West Grand Traverse Bay, where staging fish have become much more consistent.

Silver Horde plugs and Dreamweaver Spin Doctors paired with flies have been our top producers for salmon as they settle into their fall behavior.

Lake trout continue to provide dependable action when targeted in the usual areas. Most of our trout have been coming from 90 to 120 feet of water, with Hammerhead cowbells fished within the bottom 10 feet of the water column continuing to produce steady catches.

While steelhead have been quieter recently, they’re always capable of making a surprise appearance and adding another exciting fish to the day’s catch.
