Traverse City charter fishing is off to an amazing start. The fishing has been fantastic in Traverse City since we splashed the boat in May. Another great trip today! We did however have a slow start, only 1-2 on lake Trout the first hour of fishing. We continued to check around looking for some active fish and man did we! We went on a few flurries through the morning to load the cooler and do some catch and release. The weather was absolutely beautiful and fishing was just as good! Fishing Report Traverse City
Fishing has been absolutely fantastic! We have had great success on limits of lake trout all month long! We have had some salmon, and steelhead action as well.
We have been fishing pretty much every where south of the island. The “white walls”, the “east side”, “Green Can Bank”, “south island bank”, have all produced big numbers of fish. Fishing them any where from 30 feet to 80 seems to be the most consistent. The fish are just starting to move out into some deeper water however. I am not sure how long they will be holding in the shallower water could be any day they will move out.
Fishing primarily spoons by Warrior Lures, and Michigan Stinger primarily. Colors have been the normal stuff colors like Salmon Candy, Green Dolphin, Blue Dolphin, NBK GREEN, Steelhead Candy, Orange Crush all have had their shining moments.
Flashers have played a part on days as well. Chrome Spin Doctors with any color Spin n Glow have produced well on down riggers. Big Weenie Brand 10″ Weiners have been good in Blue Balls, Spotted Dick, NFN, I have been fishing those with either blue/green crinkle flys, or spin n glows.
There are a lot of fish to be had by everyone in West, and East Bay! Get out there and go get them!

We had a great trip on West Grand Traverse Bay! Smallmouth Bass to end the trip, we just got done discussing all the different fisheries Traverse City has to offer. Just so happened there was a student athlete on the boat who fishes on the Western Michigan Universities bass fishing team. There was some joking about us changing over from targeting Lake Trout and Salmon to bass to end the charter. Wouldn’t you know it, we landed a nice one! It was the cherry on top to the perfect fishing trip. The fishing should continue to be fantastic, come on out to experience some world class charter fishing!

The charter fishing in Traverse City is red hot! We are piling the cooler full of nice fish on every outing! The action has been extremely consistent while charter fishing with Storm Hawk Sport Fishing. We have had full coolers of Lake Trout, with some nice Steelhead and a few Salmon. We lost a extremely nice Salmon yesterday behind the boat on our afternoon trip! It was a bummer but the guys still managed to wrangle in a big box of fish all while loosing 20 others! Our morning trip was a smashing success as well! We left the dock at 6am and had our 4 man limit within 45 minutes! Talk about a great bite, we managed to catch a pile of Lake Trout, a gorgeous Steelhead, and a big Smallmouth Bass! We had trips planned for today but with a look at the weather we were able to move until tomorrow, so we have a BIG day tomorrow! But that is ok, it worked for my schedule as well as the customers. Even tho the fish don’t mind if they get wet!! So today is a stay dry and relax kind of day work on some paper work. It is game on tomorrow again, we are ready to be full tilt for all of our great customers! Dates have been filling in pretty fast. Wow is all we can say about the fishing so far this season, todays trip was nothing short of incredible! We had a wide open lake trout bite, as we had doubles, triples, and some more doubles. Fishing anywhere seems to be the key as long as you fish along the sharp drop offs, that’s where the fish have been keying in on. From 30-60 feet of water lead cores on boards have been my most consistent in segments of 2,4,5,7,8,10 all fishing with Warrior Lures Flutters, or small Michigan Stingers. The “Hot” colors seem to be the ticket pink, red, yellow, and you must have orange!!! Get out there before the fish start making the transition to deep water. If I were to bet on it I believe we will have another 2 weeks of fishing the shallows before the transition starts, with the heat we have been seeing it may only be another week.
