We had a good outing at the Traverse City Trout Derby today! Ended up in 3rd place in the event we had a great relaxed morning on the water. Lots of doubles and triples had the right trout that fit the slot limit by 8 A.M. we fished for steelhead the remainder of the day with zero success chasing after them. But that is ok Congrats to team “True Blue” from East Bay on the win!
3rd Place Finish in the 2015 Traverse City Trout Derby
Had a fantastic night. Caught a limit of Lake Trout, landed a Steelhead, and broke off a big brown trout right behind the boat. Fished the east side of West Bay. Started the evening in deeper water due to conditions best was 45-60 working my riggers tight to bottom. One down rigger was equipped with a Big Weenie Brand Grease Trap, the other had a double white crush Spin Doctor with a blue bubble fly. They both took bites didn’t seem to favor one or the other. Once we achieved our trout limit we switched gears went into 20-30 feet of water just pulling 4 planer boards hoping for a lucky brown trout or steelhead. And we got our chances and we caught a few trout as well, Dreamweaver’s Dreamsicle was the best on the shallow program, Michigan stinger NBK was good on a 3 color too.
Fished West Grand Traverse Bay this morning: Fished Red 8 buoy north to Lee Point. Never turned around was prospecting just checking stuff out. Caught fish shallow as 10 feet and deep as 145. Fishing was good, short lead cores were key to success in the shallow water program. Best spoon by far was Greasy Chicken Wing Super Slim on a 3 color. Another top producer was the Blue Perch by Warrior a Flutter series on a 1 color. Went over deeper water just to check a few different times and caught trout near bottom on a Michigan Stinger Blue Dolphin close to bottom. The three times we marked a pod of fish and dropped the spoon to them deep it fired! We mostly stayed tight to the bank however keeping the boat in 30 feet of water seemed to do well for us. Looks to be a lot of fish again!!! Fishing is going to be amazing while the water starts to warm these fish are going to be jumping in the boat!!

Frankfort is known for its world class Brown Trout fishing! So we try and provide a top notch Brown Trout Fishing Charter service out of Frankfort to target these feisty fish! It was our first open water trip of the season and it was not a disappointment! We fished the peir heads and caught a few Brown Trout and a few big Lake Trout!
Today we went on the search for walleye and we were not disappointed! We landed a nice bucket of Walleye and a few bonus perch! The ice fishing has been really good this far into the season. I am looking forward to the rest of the ice fishing season!

What a awesome season!! Just wanted to thank all of our amazing customers, for coming fishing this past season. Also my sponsors Big Jon Sports, Big Weenie Brand, Seagaur Line, Costa Del Mar! Have a great winter, spring cant come soon enough!
Today marks the end of the fishing season for me. A little early unfortunately but that’s ok we had a stellar year!! We fished West Grand Traverse Bay fishing in the “Hole” and had a great bite. We didn’t manage to keep a lot hooked to the boat but we sure had a awesome bite! Landed a handful so that was plenty. It was a gorgeous day to be on West Bay fishing right outside of down town Traverse City!
There are a lot of salmon in and around the Boardman river. Today we hooked into 23 salmon, assuming all kings but might of had a coho or two on as well. We landed 12 Kings and could of kept going but the guys had more than enough fish! It was a really good bite all morning! The normal baits were in the water all morning never made a change! Ladder back plugs, watermelon on riggers. Spin doctor on one diver and Big Weenies NFN on the other wire. That was the spread all morning setting rigger 65 to 70 down. Wires were back 120 and 13o they just kept biting so we never changed!!
We had an excellent bite today! Started a little slow the first hour, I changed a few things up and bam! Fish on filled the air, the salmon fishing here in Traverse City was very good! When all said and done we landed eight very nice salmon and lost another handful. We were fishing right down town Traverse City which is such a fun experience most would never think there would be giant salmon right off the beach of downtown Traverse City!
