We had a great trip on West Grand Traverse Bay! Smallmouth Bass to end the trip, we just got done discussing all the different fisheries Traverse City has to offer. Just so happened there was a student athlete on the boat who fishes on the Western Michigan Universities bass fishing team. There was some joking about us changing over from targeting Lake Trout and Salmon to bass to end the charter. Wouldn’t you know it, we landed a nice one! It was the cherry on top to the perfect fishing trip. The fishing should continue to be fantastic, come on out to experience some world class charter fishing!

The charter fishing in Traverse City is red hot! We are piling the cooler full of nice fish on every outing! The action has been extremely consistent while charter fishing with Storm Hawk Sport Fishing. We have had full coolers of Lake Trout, with some nice Steelhead and a few Salmon. We lost a extremely nice Salmon yesterday behind the boat on our afternoon trip! It was a bummer but the guys still managed to wrangle in a big box of fish all while loosing 20 others! Our morning trip was a smashing success as well! We left the dock at 6am and had our 4 man limit within 45 minutes! Talk about a great bite, we managed to catch a pile of Lake Trout, a gorgeous Steelhead, and a big Smallmouth Bass! We had trips planned for today but with a look at the weather we were able to move until tomorrow, so we have a BIG day tomorrow! But that is ok, it worked for my schedule as well as the customers. Even tho the fish don’t mind if they get wet!! So today is a stay dry and relax kind of day work on some paper work. It is game on tomorrow again, we are ready to be full tilt for all of our great customers! Dates have been filling in pretty fast. We had a crazy morning! The fishing was great, as it has been all season. We did encounter some wild weather this morning as we fished Traverse City. There were high winds, sun, rain, did I mention wind? There was a storm cell closing in on us as we landed our first fish, we turned around kept on fishing as it looked like it was going north of us. Then it took a turn and was heading right at us, I pulled lines as it was closing in on us then wham! Fish on one of the last rods still in the water and of course it had to be the biggest lake trout of the young fishing trip. We took our time got it in the boat once it hit the ice I throttled up got us back to port. It cleared fairly fast, so we turned around and finished the charter. Below is a short of us working the big lake trout to the back of the boat as the storm closed in on us.

We had another stellar fishing trip this afternoon. We caught our limit of fish in short order, and did catch and release the rest of the charter. We even had a steelhead on momentarily but he managed to spit the hook before we got him in the net. Safe to say the charter fishing is amazing at this time in Traverse City, Michigan. The fishing continues to be lights out with doubles, and triples being common! Truly blessed to be apart of such a great event out of Leland, Mi. I fished on the “Cutter” the charter boat I fished on for years before I started my own business. They organize this event every year all of the charter boats donate the day to take a bunch of locals out fishing. We must of had over 60 veterans out on the water to experience some incredible fishing. We had a great bite and all the boats caught a bucket of Lake trout. Once we got back into dock, some of the locals were frying fish and we had a feast! It was a great time had by all, thanks to the guys making it all happen.
