Took the Larigan family out on the Infinity this morning. We had a pretty good morning couldn’t seem to get the fish in the boat but it was plenty good enough! The kids had a great time and that’s what its all about. There weren’t any salmon to speak of but the lake trout fishing was good!

Ran a fishing charter out of Leland today, booked a trip on the big boat for this morning. It was a lot of fun getting out of the bay and fishing out of Leland, nice change of pace for the day! We had a fantastic charter fishing trip with lots of trout and this trophy king salmon. We caught a pile of trout in the first hour and half my crew decided they had more than enough trout wanted to chase after some King Salmon that were in the area. They were not disappointed! It wasn’t long after we made the switch this monster met his match! Paula handled this Salmon Like a pro!

One thing is for sure. Traverse City has no shortage of fishing spots. That was very clear today, we had a blast fishing them! It was different than a normal trip as it seemed everything went wrong. The guys were laughing at me as I was trying to piece it together. Well plan A didn’t work… Plan B well that worked for a bite.. The dreadful plan C was in order and I sure wish I started with plan C!!! We were sitting on just a few fish until we made the final move of the day. It sure worked out well for us! A few doubles and few releases and lots of smiles. West Bay is a fantastic fishery and today I had a few curveballs thrown our way. Luckily we had beautiful weather great customers with patience.

Had a double today. First trip this morning was a family trip we went out and got a limit of Lake Trout. Afternoon we went after salmon. Well it wasn’t to long of a wait until we got one, actually lost a few more too! We also caught a few trout so it was a fantastic afternoon! The King Salmon are showing up more and more it seems! I actually marked a decent amount of them while out searching for them. I look forward to targeting them more as the season wears on!

Had a dreary wet damp cold afternoon! Doesn’t sound that great does it?! The fish didn’t seem to mind all that much, as we wrangled a limit of Lake Trout! Fished 80-100 feet Silver Streak Blue and Green Dolphins seemed to be best on coppers. And Spin doctors on the wire divers were productive as well! Fished by the old windows restaurant further north at some points.

Fished West Bay again today, and it did not disappoint! The fishing was great again! Fished the East side along Ole Mission Peninsula, in 70-100 feet of water. Riggers tracing bottom one with a spin doctor fly the other with a Moonshine spoon Flounder pounder. Coppers took a few fish as well 225, 250, 270, 300 all took turns with spoons.

I picked up Miss. Maddie at the dock after my morning fishing charter. She has never caught anything bigger than a blue gill, we were able to change that pretty fast! She caught a handful of Lake Trout in extremely short order. I set 6 lines trolling into the spot I wanted to fish after one pass over it every rod caught a fish! We packed them in 1 by 1 as she reeled them in, once she got her 6th fish we went for a boat ride to cool off after all that work!

Fished out of Frankfort for an evening fish with a few friends. The fishing was absolutely incredible we started offshore fifteen miles out catching a mix of salmon, Steelhead, Lake Trout, and a few Coho salmon. After filling up a cooler full we decided to pick up and move back into the “Bank” off point Betsie where I had a friend doing ok on some fish. We started to set up and a board went off a seven color lead core goes screaming drag. To our surprise it was this giant Brown Trout, weighed in at seventeen and a half pounds! We were super excited to land this giant Brown Trout, we snapped a photo and let it go to fight another day!
