June 12 Fishing Report

The fishing has been absolutely incredible so far this June! Fish have been caught recently anywhere in 10 feet of water out to 60 feet. I have been concentrating on the break targeting 30-50 foot. 2, 4,5, and 7 colors of lead core fishing spoons. Cowbells on down riggers fishing 5 feet off bottom has been very effective. Color does not seems to matter at the moment. The fish are hungry!

Excellent fishing continues in Traverse City

Excellent fishing continues in Traverse City:

The fishing is still  fantastic here in Traverse city. We have been fishing the East, and West side of the bay. Anywhere from 30-55 feet of water seems to be the most productive. Pulling Spoons on leadcore, downriggers with flashers and spin n glows. The best colors has been anything gaudy. Orange, Yellow, UV, Red, and more Orange! We are booked up over the weekend but have Friday open still. Call today if you want to get out and catch some fish!

Hows the fishing?

Traverse City Fishing Report

The fishing this season thus far has been incredible. We have experienced some fantastic Lake Trout fishing from the first trip of the season. Of course we had a few slower trips with the slowest trip coming in with 3 Brown Trout, and 1 Lake Trout! That is still good fishing!

Currently we are still seeing great catches of Lake Trout and some salmon. We seem to be getting salmon bites consistently  every morning, not a lot but enough to usually are able to put one in the boat! But the Lake Trout fishing has been nothing short of phenomenal this whole season. We boated the seasons biggest Lake Trout just two days ago weighing in at 17 pounds!

As August grows older, we are going to be seeing more and more salmon come into the bays. We will shift focus from Lake Trout and concentrate more and more on the salmon once I see better numbers of them. I am looking forward to the last few weeks of the season and hope to see you on the water!

July 30 Traverse City Fishing Report

Traverse City Fishing Report:

Lake Trout fishing remains really good. We have been having a lot of fun catching some beautiful fish, averaging 20-28 inches and seeing some over 10 pounds! Fishing anywhere from 80-100 feet pulling cowbells, meat rigs, and spoons on long lines. The normal colors with blue, green, and white all doing well at times.

Salmon: there are more and more salmon coming especially now that we are approaching August. We already had one push of fish up the river according to a few friends that fish the Boardman. The “Hole” has been producing some salmon, but is has been really hit or miss. One morning you get a few bites next morning no action. The most consistent salmon action is coming along the walls fishing 100-120 feet of water. Later in the morning, try fishing over deep water 250-300 some suspended fish out there. Best luck this far has been meat rigs, and spoons. Big Weenie Brand “Spotted Dick Glow” “Spotted Dick UV” for meat rigs. As for spoons Green and Blue Dolphins have been good as well as the Moonshine RV series spoon.

Get out there and get bit!

July Fishing Report Traverse City Michigan

July Fishing Report Traverse City Michigan 2018:

Fishing for the month of July has continued to be good after the fantastic June we experienced! To start the month the fish have still been in the shallow water 30-50 feet daily it seemed they bite pretty good every trip I was out in those depths. Fishing pretty much all of the shore line south of Power Island all held fish. Now that the summer heat is setting, the fish are starting to get locked into they’re summer patterns. The last few days they have been sliding out into some deeper waters as the shallows have been warm surface temp today was 70 degrees I found 68 degree water all the way down to 60 feet! Now that is summer in Traverse City, Mi.

Try fishing along the “white walls” in 80-90 feet seems to be the best fishing the bottom 10 feet, most of the fish have been tight to bottom since they just made the move. The “Gravel Pit” has been holding some decent fish as well fishing the same water 80-100 feet has been producing. The “Island” green can has been holding a lot of fish, but seems to be a slower bite with the pressure it has been receiving with all the boat traffic daily.

Mostly catching lake trout but there have been some steelhead, salmon, even a few brown trout caught!

June 24 Fishing Report Traverse City

Fishing Report Traverse City

Fishing has been absolutely fantastic! We have had great success on limits of lake trout all month long! We have had some salmon, and steelhead action as well.

We have been fishing pretty much every where south of the island. The “white walls”, the “east side”, “Green Can Bank”, “south island bank”, have all produced big numbers of fish. Fishing them any where from 30 feet to 80 seems to be the most consistent. The fish are just starting to move out into some deeper water however. I am not sure how long they will be holding in the shallower water could be any day they will move out.

Fishing primarily spoons by Warrior Lures, and Michigan Stinger primarily. Colors have been the normal stuff colors like Salmon Candy, Green Dolphin, Blue Dolphin, NBK GREEN, Steelhead Candy, Orange Crush all have had their shining moments.

Flashers have played a part on days as well. Chrome Spin Doctors with any color Spin n Glow have produced well on down riggers. Big Weenie Brand 10″ Weiners have been good in Blue Balls, Spotted Dick, NFN, I have been fishing those with either blue/green crinkle flys, or spin n glows.

There are a lot of fish to be had by everyone in West, and East Bay! Get out there and go get them!

Traverse City Fishing Report-June

Wow is all we can say about the fishing so far this season, todays trip was nothing short of incredible! We had a wide open lake trout bite, as we had doubles, triples, and some more doubles. Fishing anywhere seems to be the key as long as you fish along the sharp drop offs, that’s where the fish have been keying in on. From 30-60 feet of water lead cores on boards have been my most consistent in segments of 2,4,5,7,8,10 all fishing with Warrior Lures Flutters, or small Michigan Stingers. The “Hot” colors seem to be the ticket pink, red, yellow, and you must have orange!!! Get out there before the fish start making the transition to deep water. If I were to bet on it I believe we will have another 2 weeks of fishing the shallows before the transition starts, with the heat we have been seeing it may only be another week.

Traverse City Fishing Report

May 16 Traverse City Fishing Report. Fished this morning for 3 hours and we couldn’t keep the lines in the water. Short lead cores 1,2,3,5,7 all took fish, downriggers long leads with spoons down 15-20 feet also took a few bites. We fished the west side along the white walls in 30-40 feet. Set up at Red 8 bouy, kept going north until we got our limit of fish. Warrior Lures Flutter series were the hottest baits in the water Psycho Perch, Blue Perch, Mixed Veggie, Santa’s little Helper was our best on the 5 color.

Traverse City Fishing Report

Fished this morning and found fish in 10 feet all the way to 200. We pecked away on Lake Trout all morning on short lead cores to downriggers fishing suspended fish with meat rigs. We caught a dozen healthy fish they all went back to fight another day! The water is 43 degrees on the south end of West Bay right in front of downtown Traverse City. Lead cores from 1-5 colors depending on how deep of water we were in best colors were orange and red. Warrior lure flutter spoons, and Michigan Stingers did the work on the planers. The downriggers had Big Weenie Brand Spotted Dick, and UV Spotted Dick. Hard to beat those set ups! We will be back at it tomorrow and will have another report!
