Fishing Traverse City:

The fishing in Traverse City is extremely good. We managed a fast limit of Lake Trout today, in the matter of two hours. We went on the hunt for a king salmon but no luck, the crew was extremely happy to go home with lots of trout for the family! Spin doctors tracing bottom in 120-140 feet of water on the east side of the bay today did the trick for us.

Fishing has been absolutely on fire. Trout are on the transition to deeper water, anywhere from 80-200 they can be found. I have been getting them in the morning in good numbers in 80 feet of water on the drop offs on glow spoons and cow bells. After noons like the one pictured deep water has been a sure fire bet for me. Good ole Trash can dodgers or chrome Spin Doctors have been the best for me. Most consistent action has been working the base of the drop offs where it starts flattening out. Best has been 130-150 fishing bottom or suspended fish, those fish around the 100ft down have been steady bite on the longer coppers with a Pro King Blue Dolphin spoon especially high sun that thing has been on fire!!!!

We had a big morning on the water today! Pictured below Nicole fighting the last bite of the day as we were on our way out to pull lines. We had 12 bites today and landed 6 Kings. We just had a blast watching the kids catch some fish, lots of mistakes but the kids did a great job learning how to do it the right way. They will be pros for next year!

We caught a lot of fish fishing the shallow water program. We must of caught 25 Lake Trout only kept 4, we even managed to land a beautiful Steelhead as a bonus. I have been seeing more and more Steelhead through the last few seasons, pretty exciting to see! We fished 20-30 feet of water shallow boards 2,3,5 Michigan Stingers, Warrior Flutters all did the damage.

Leland King Salmon:

We had gorgeous weather today here in Northern Michigan. Went for a short fun trip out of Leland and had great success we caught a bunch of Lake Trout and even went to look around for some salmon and found one! Caught the first King of the year on a Big Weenie Brand 10″ Weiner.

Ran my first trip of the season. My customer wanted to chase brown trout so that’s what we did! I chose to fish Frankfort as it has a pretty awesome spring fishery. Started inside the pier arms set up, turned north out of the pier heads and it did not take long. Had a big brown on a flat line pair up with a Lucky Craft swim bait clown pattern. We then went on to peck away through the morning catching a handful of browns and lake trout. Best fishing for us was right along the beach in 10 feet of water boards tight to the beach did the damage.

My little buddy Grady did an outstanding job today! We caught a nice box of salmon with a big bang early and then a slow peck for the last two hours. Which was perfect how many salmon do you really need? Below is a picture of Grady with a King Salmon that decided he wanted his last meal.. Unfortunately for him it was Grady’s turn to reel in the fish! Call to book the fishing is hot!

We had a really nice morning on the water. Just kind of pecked away at the fish, caught them at a nice steady pace through the morning. Below is a picture of Trent with one of the dandy salmon. 70-90 feet of water working 60-70 down all morning Luhr Jensen J Plugs were the best by far this morning!
