Big King Salmon in Traverse City

Mixed bag catches
Mixed bag a few Kings, and a limit of lake trout. Started in the hole nothing going on down there. Made a run north to fished the West side of the bay and had good success. Meat Rigs on divers Big Jon Spoon on riggers and plugs on coppers. 150,250,225 coppers took bites on a mix of salmon and trout. Blue, white seemed to be the best colors of the day by far!

Limit catches
We experienced 18 trout in 2 hours of fishing this afternoon. Pretty amazing fishing Traverse City is providing us with!!!
Light Line Fun
Two person charter today. We had a nice laid back fun trip with beautiful weather, did some trolling, jigging, and hunting! Had the guys each man a down rigger while we fished for trout had one spinning rod with 10 pound test braid with a spoon the other was a traditional trolling set up with cow bells. We ended up not setting the cowbell rod and just ran the light rod for pure fun!!! We caught a bunch on the clean spoon and when we got a bite I was able to put the boat in neutral and really fight the fish it was pretty awesome!

Rainy day Traverse City Fishing
It rained on and off through the whole morning. But like my customers know my saying “The fish don’t mind if they get wet” so we went for it! I had a hardy crew and it paid off we ended up with a limit catch again! Below is a good shot of the last fish of the morning after it dried up! The crew got a good work out in as the long lines were taking most of the bites!

Storm Hawk Sport Fishing
Traverse City fishing is great!
Limit of trout within the hour this morning. Fished by the island today in 80-100 feet of water cowbells on one downrigger tracing bottom, the other had a spoon fishing suspended fish down 65-75 feet. Coppers took a fair share of fish on 200-300 foot segments of copper, the best was the Big Jon spoon pictured below. We finished the morning fishing for salmon with one strike on a low diver meat rig set up. By Lee point marked a few streakers as well.

Lake Trout cant resist!!!
Had a bizarre trip, where my normal lures just stopped working mid way through a trip. So I went through one of my flasher box and found a brand new 8″ Big Weenie Weiner with one of my favorite tapes the NFN. I put that flasher down paired with a spin n glow on the down rigger tracing bottom and boy did it work!!! It took our last 6 trout it was pretty amazing, I have a feeling it will work for years to come…
