September King Salmon charter Fishing in Traverse City, Michigan: 

The annual salmon run has been strong for the last few weeks! We still have a few weeks left, of the best salmon fishing Traverse City has to offer! Fishing the “Hole” outside of the Boardman river has been the best. Luhr Jensen J Plugs, and flasher flys have been the go too. Try anything blue or green seems to be the ticket!!

Afternoon Fishing Charters:

Fishing was steadily slow through the afternoon today. Fished by the “Orchard” in hopes those fish would turn on and start to bite. Fished tight to the bank and did swoops over deep water and pecked away the whole trip. Wire divers paired with Big Weenie Flashers were by far my best the 10″ wiener model one was out 180 the other 220 and it seemed like they took turns catching fish. The color was blue/ultra violet on the blade. A paddle on a 450 copper took a few bites as well.

Charter Fishing Frankfort:

Ran a all day trip that started off fishing the “Bank” got pinned in shallow which turned out ok for us because we ended up getting into some good fish!! Up in 80 feet Silver Horde Green Lightning on a 10 color of lead core, Big Weenie NFN on wire, Stinger Green Dolphin on a rigger were our best. We also made the run up to Platte Bay to try our hand on a Coho Salmon report I got in the morning. Ran up and we did find some Coho’s in West Platte. 7 color lead core with a pink and white small plug took some fish! We had a great box of fish, and we managed to beat a massive fog that was rolling in off the lake it was pretty neat! You can see the fog rolling in over the hill on the photo below! Ron and the gang were great company to have on the boat!

We went for an afternoon of charter fishing on West Bay today. With these afternoon trips you never know sometimes the fishing can be a little slower, that was not the case today! We had a superb trip with fish on constantly, fishing was lights out. Our long lines with some custom taped spoons were the ticket today. Mo below didn’t have any fun today as you can see in the photo! She ended the trip on the biggest fish on the afternoon!

Back to charter fishing Leland, Mi today. We had a great trip started on the first bank but with out any cooler water we trolled west. Riggers with Stinger Blue Dolphin was good, 250, 300 coppers both took lots of bites. With a mix of Lake Trout, King Salmon, and Steelhead how can you not love it?!  We ended with a good cooler full of fish, beautiful weather good job guys!

We never managed to even get 6 lines in the water today, the fishing is just that good! Riggers paired with spin doctor flies, or spoons color didn’t seem to matter. The biggest component to success today was boat control stayed right in 90 feet of water and worked the riggers tight to bottom and it was on. Lucas did a great job never lost a fish! He is now a veteran fishing with me!! Great job Buddy!!

We had another fantastic fishing charter today! Had a quick 4 man limit before 9, cant ask for better fishing than that! Wire divers with Big Weenie Meat Rigs, 250, 300, 320 copper with moonshine spoons were the ticket today! Fished anywhere from 75-110 feet of water. Not a bad way to start the morning!

Took the Larigan family out on the Infinity this morning. We had a pretty good morning couldn’t seem to get the fish in the boat but it was plenty good enough! The kids had a great time and that’s what its all about. There weren’t any salmon to speak of but the lake trout fishing was good!

One thing is for sure. Traverse City has no shortage of fishing spots. That was very clear today, we had a blast fishing them! It was different than a normal trip as it seemed everything went wrong. The guys were laughing at me as I was trying to piece it together. Well plan A didn’t work… Plan B well that worked for a bite.. The dreadful plan C was in order and I sure wish I started with plan C!!! We were sitting on just a few fish until we made the final move of the day. It sure worked out well for us! A few doubles and few releases and lots of smiles. West Bay is a fantastic fishery and today I had a few curveballs thrown our way. Luckily we had beautiful weather great customers with patience.
