Fishing Season Traverse City:

As we all await to see what is going to play out with the COVID-19 I sit and wonder. When will our fishing season begin in Traverse City? I am well aware fishing is minor when you weigh in life and death. But it is something that keeps me going in these crazy times. We are a little over a week out from the governors “Stay at home” policy expires. I am sure we have more answers sooner than that, but that’s where we stand as of now.  We are hoping everyone is staying safe and healthy and lets all hope we come through this stronger than before! I am confident we will be fishing and enjoying a glorious West Bay sunrise in Traverse City before you know it. With the sound of “FISH ON” going through the air. We are hopeful we will be out on the water soon.

Don’t look now, spring is in the air birds are chirping sun has been shining! Before you know it we will be on the water chasing the fish of Traverse City! I am impatiently waiting for the season to come to light, we are roughly two months out from launch. The Storm Hawk will be in her summer home the first week of May. The early season fishery in Traverse City can be some of the most exciting fishing of the season. It provides excellent Lake Trout fishing, with possible bonus species like Salmon, Steelhead, Brown Trout, Cisco, and Walleye! Whats not to love about that kind of fishing trip? Guided Ice Fishing Trips

Its official with our current “heatwave” we are wrapping up our guided ice fishing trip season. It is a week or two early this year but that is ok! We had a lot of fun and caught a bunch of fish! Thank you to all of our amazing customers that came out with us this season. The best ice fishing season yet! We were all able to share some memories, laughs, and of course catching fish! We will be revamping some of our gear adding to our inventory to make sure you all can experience the best guided ice fishing trip possible. I look forward to next season, until then I will be enjoying some sun and the 2020 charter fishing season!

The end of the winter is amongst us! With the unseasonable weather the last few days and sunshine it has us thinking spring, and that ultimately has us getting excited for our Fishing Charters in Traverse City! The spring fishery is absolutely incredible here in Traverse City. The fish move to the shallows and most of the time we are targeting 40 feet of water or less! Catching Lake Trout, Steelhead, Brown Trout, Salmon is a blast! The main catch will be Lake Trout but catching other species this time of year is not uncommon. We had our annual Grill-N-Chill outing this past weekend! We had a blast with family and friends enjoying the day out in Traverse City enjoying a day ice fishing! We had over 20 people come and spend the afternoon on the ice visiting and telling stories. There were plenty of Walleye caught between the group. Nothing to brag about in the size department but it was a lot of fun to spend the afternoon on the ice fishing with family and friends. We already have some fun ideas for next year! 

Fishing Charter Traverse City: 

 

We are getting closer to the fishing season here in Traverse City! Soon we will be targeting Salmon, and Lake Trout! Until then we will be spending time getting the boat prepped and getting the gear in order for the fishing charter season. We have some new rods and reels on the way, as well as a bunch of new tackle! 

 

To past the time I have enjoyed some time on the ice with friends and family. It has been a slow start to the guided ice fishing season due to the ice conditions. I have also been trying my hand at some YouTube videos we have some pretty neat underwater footage! I am going to try and get some footage through this season to make more videos with some awesome content stay tuned on that! 

 

The fishing season is near, even if the calendar and weather say otherwise! With this winter being different I think we are all hoping for a early spring and early good fishing season! I know I am most certainly looking forward to seeing everybody! Keep in mind the fishing charter season in Traverse City is near! Call to book your charter as we are booking charters! Happy winter everyone! We are currently doing some ice fishing and waiting for Spring all at the same time. I have had some free time the last few weeks with the inconsistent ice so, I decided  I was going to try my hand at making a YouTube channel and throw some fun little videos together. I have enjoyed going through some of the footage and recordings that I have accumulated through the years. I’m looking forward to getting better and better at creating some videos. Salmon fishing in Traverse City has been good! We have been experiencing some good catches, not huge numbers but that is not our norm anyhow. We took three fish this morning all were close to 30 pounds! That is crazy size, we landed 4 nice salmon this morning lost another 3. It was a fun morning on the water! The fishing should remain strong for another 3 weeks, pending we don’t get any crazy weather patterns that push all the fish up the river.
