2021 Salmon Classic 2nd place

What a great weekend on the water. Good fishing and excellent weather. We took home 2nd place in this years event! Day one showed why people travel from all over to come fish in Traverse City. We had excellent fishing with a lot of hook ups, but more lost than landed. At about 9 o clock our luck changed and we went on to land 4 nice salmon in a row. Day two proved to be a little more difficult, we got the bites again but we lost so many fish. Lots of fun to be had in this event!

2021 Womens Salmon Classic 2nd place

We ALWAYS look forward to this day every summer. So much fun to get the girls out and relax on the water. We had a good plan and hoped it would work out for us! The girls crushed it and did an amazing job! We ended up taking a close second place finish in this year’s event! Already looking forward to next year!

2021 TC Trout Derby 1st place

The derby was a little different than years past. The tournament director has moved on and no longer held the tournament. However, a friend decided he wanted to throw something together. There were about a dozen boats that competed in the event. This year it went off length not weight! For the crew we had my brother who was up visiting from Naples, FL, Fred who always competes in the Salmon Classic with us, and Cody a good friend who was helping with the rigging.

For the fishing we were fortunate to set up on a HOT bite on BIG lake trout first bite we had I knew it was big that one came in at 15 pounds! Now that is a great way to start the morning.  We had our four big trout to measure within an hour of fishing. Ended up taking first place on a super fun morning.

2020 Traverse City Trout Tournament 1st place

Traverse City Trout Tournament:

Well we had the annual TC trout tournament over the weekend. It was a different feel with a new format catch 8 and you are done fishing layout. I think everyone involved had a great time! We were fortunate to get the right bites and pulled out a win! The win was close however we weighed in 37.85 pounds on our 4 biggest Lake Trout, the second place boat brought in 37.50! It always seems in these tournaments it is super close. We as usual make tournaments fun and laid back as possible. What good fun is it if you are stressed the whole time? I feel that is a huge key to success on the water day in day out. Go out and enjoy your time on the water and things can fall into place with a positive attitude!

2019 Traverse City Salmon Classic 1st place

Traverse City Salmon Classic Champions for the second year in a row! What a fun weekend on the water, filled with ups and downs. We are super excited to two peat this tournament, it is not a easy thing to do. In fact I only know of one other team that has won the tournament back to back, it is rare! It was a fairly close tournament, we had a come back from our day 1 performance that had us in third place. We had a big box of salmon on day two that gave us a win by nine points edging out team “Chaos”.

2017 Traverse City Salmon Classic 10th place

Well a disappointing weekend in the Traverse City Salmon Classic for us. On the bright side really good friend of ours won it for the second year in the row, captain Adam on Mega Bite!

We had a lot of salmon bites on day 1 but couldn’t capitalize on them. We had a big fish on at day break fought it for 20 minutes just for it to come unhooked. We lost three other bites after we got our lines set after the big fish, we then proceeded to fight a fish for 10 minutes got it all the way to the back of the boat and had it break off about 1o feet behind the boat. At 8:30 we finally landed our first King of the morning that was a bitter sweet accomplishment. We fished for salmon another hour landed one more lost two others. We moved to fish trout to fill our tournament limit for the day. We got our trout to bite fairly fast and was able to fish salmon the last hour of the tournament with no luck. We were in 11th after day 1.

Day 2 of the tournament was a tougher bite for every one. We had half the bites we did on salmon early but were able to land a double. Shortly after we landed the double we made a move to target big lake trout. Setting lines we lost a big trout half way to the boat, then resetting the down rigger the cable snapped lost the down rigger ball… We were able to finish our tournament limit with nice lake trout. Moved to finish the last two hours looking for a few salmon bites. We did get one more as we were getting ready to pull lines, and it broke off within 5 minutes of fighting it.

Just that kind of weekend for us! But that’s ok we had a great time fishing, we ended up in 10th overall in the event.
